SBD’s rapidly growing North America subsidiary, based near downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, is hiring an Assistant Director to support its further expansion into the U.S. market and connected car research and consultancy. This full-time position will report to the Director, North America of SBD.
The role will be varied, with a focus on overall office/staff management, effective management of strategic projects, winning/guiding executive-level client engagements, as well as delivering complex connected car research projects at a high rate of quality and insight:
Supporting the Director with day-to-day office management and talent cultivation
Guiding strategic areas of the N.A. business from a project management perspective
Developing compelling proposals and executive-level presentations as a critical member of the global sales team
Managing end-to-end client research projects with minimal direct supervision
Conducting in-depth primary and secondary research of the connected car market (trends, analysis, insights, market intelligence, relationship mapping, data gathering, etc.) in areas such as infotainment, connected car services, mobility services, automotive technology hardware/software, user experience, etc.
Effectively delivering presentations on connected car research and market trends to various automotive audiences (including executive level contacts)
Conducting proactive sales of SBD reports, consumer usability studies, and senior client consultancy projects
Attending, presenting, and effectively engaging at trade shows, industry events, and on-site projects
Supporting various internal and external marketing initiatives to promote SBD’s products and services
Providing timely and professional support to various client needs, with account management responsibilities
Networking with key individuals across the connected car ecosystem
“Pitching in” and maintain flexibility to support company and team growth
Domestic travel required for trade shows, client research, and customer visits
Extreme passion for automotive technology and services
At least 5-7 years of domain experience in the connected car field - ideally from an automotive OEM, Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive technology supplier, and/or technology research or analyst firm
Experience in people/team management, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
Strong attention to research and detail
Effective communications skills (oral and written) to simplify complicated technologies for our clients, exude confidence in meetings and make compelling presentations
Experience in creating proposals and closing strategic project engagements
Ability to juggle and prioritize numerous projects and clients at the same time
Successful track record of accepting complex assignments, scoping them, and successfully delivering stellar results with minimal supervision
Creativity to bring to life advanced concepts and ideas in clear, dynamic, and innovative ways
“Start-up” mentality and nimbleness to succeed as the business grows – you will get your hands dirty
Experience building arguments and a point of view using sound research practices and data analysis
Team player with highest ethics and a sense of humor
Computer proficient – MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Foreign language(s) a plus
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field from leading University; Master’s degree preferred
